If you want to taste the best Italian ice-cream, you should go to Tuscany,
or rather to the suggestive town of San Gimignano. Located just a few
kilometres from Siena, San Gimignano is renowned worldwide as the "Manhattan
of Italy" because of its medieval towers. Sergio Dondoli has opened
his ice-cream shop in this setting, and more precisely in the town's market
square. Newspaper clippings in German, English and Italian, not to mention
the letters from all over Europe, testify to his popularity. Once, his
chocolate ice-cream even won the title of the world's "best ice-cream
of the year". If you want proof, all you need to do is taste it:
rich of cocoa and cream, and its softness is always just perfect. To make
a long story short, his ice-cream is damn good. So, my dear Italian ice-cream
man selling ice-cream just around the corner, I hate to tell you this
but you are just not up to his standards.
